Classic Metal, originally Copper Creations, was founded in 1999 by Wade Usey. He started his career in the roofing industry and had a roofing company where he focused on new construction homes. While working with local residential builders that he still works with to this day, he realized the void in metal contractors for essential roofing products. He then transitioned his focus to metal and began learning how to build these products to be installed on new homes. With the lack of mentors in his area, he self-taught himself how to build everything by looking at ways products were made that had to be ordered elsewhere. He had two kids at home with his wife, Jackie, while he worked hard to become a known name in the local industry. Jackie would sometimes make products on the metal brake in their garage while Wade was installing them on the roofs of his builders.
Fast forward several years and Copper Creations was now a known business in the area with several employees helping Wade keep up with the demand of metal work. In 2015 Wades wife lost her battle with Leukemia and he was left with the responsibility of raising two kids on his own. Even with this hardship, he continued to focus on his business and put both of his kids through college with the success of the business he built all these years.
His son, Reid, would often work with him during summers in the shop or out on job sites slowly learning small pieces of the business. Like any normal teenager, work wasn’t appealing to him especially being construction related. He continued to go to school where he gained his bachelor’s degree in finance and met his Wife, Molly. After joining the workforce, he found a job in Sales where he was faced with a company reorganization and laid off.
In 2022 Copper Creations was rebranded to Classic Metal and became a formalized company. Not long after being let go from his sales career, Reid decided he wanted to grow his father’s business and keep the legacy of the business going. Wade had accepted the fact that his business was going to close when it came time to retire, but he is now excited to be working with his son and teaching him the trade. While still working with new residential construction, Reid has used his sales skills to expand the business into new markets such as roofing companies, gutter companies, and individuals interested in their products.
Wade and Reid’s goal is to expand their knowledge and expertise into areas that don’t have these products readily available. Their main business is still locally driven with the hopes to expand into different states across the US and deliver top quality products.
